Great to hear this, thanks for sharing, especially as I have a heart for the non-smartphones! I've attended and presented at a couple of previous Mobile Ministry Forums so great to hear you were there again (virtually) too!

I visit this blog exactly for this kind of information, which is completely absent from other news sources that focus instead on 1st world (actually, USA&EU 1st world -- not even Korean or Japanese 1st world) apps, accessories and cloud services.

Shame to hear about good technology being used for an evil purpose.

First Exposure and Use of Mobile Media in Young Children

"If a person can't read they typically are also lacking in numeracy. If you tell them 'press number 3' on the keyboard, they won't know which of the 12 keys on the phone is a 'three' - and they will hang up."

So how do they call a person? Second time you can use the contact list but the first time?

Lukyamuzi Frank

Tomi, Thank you so much for this note. I was glad to hear you Live (was a remote participant too) You are indeed right about the basic numeracy needed to even work with a simple basic phone, however, African Governments through universalism of education, it will help provide the numeracy needed to understand a basic phone. For me i have a feeling that developing media in form of visual would work best than thinking of modern apps for African countries more so the deepest villages you referred too.
