Today we see that I've sent 57,700 Tweets over those four years, on average 39.5 Tweets per day. As those who follow me know, I am not on TW every day, I tend to do my bursts of Tweets as 'Twitterstorms' typically once or twice per week, so the weekly number of Tweets is 277 Tweets, and if we say I send on average three Twitterfloods every two weeks, the average lenght of a Twitterstorm is then about 184 Tweets.
Perhaps the more relevant measure is the total characters. If we say that my average Tweet is half the lenght of Twitter's maximum 140 characters, ie 70 characters (including spaces) then I've sent in my four years on Twitter, a total of 4 million characters including spaces. An average printed hardcover book of about 350 pages, like say my Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media, runs about 120,000 words, which is about 700,000 chacters including spaces. So over four years on Twitter, I've given to my Twitter followers, my 'Tweeps' content roughly equivalent to 5.7 free hardcover books (although, to be fair, there's been a considerable amount of repetition in that, with my Anti-Elop Nokia rants for example). Or almost 1.5 free books per year via Twitter, on the whole.
And before you here on this blog get to feel too 'jealous' - don't you worry. I put most of my effort of course onto this blog. We've been alive now for almost 8 years, and this blog has 2,170 postings or on average 5 blog postings per week. Yes, earlier with Alan Moore also posting regularly here, we posted more actual blog postings, but more recently I've moved my quick thoughts to Twitter and left more thorough analysis postings for the blog, my blogging here has grown far deeper and longer. The total words on this blog exceed 6.5 million ! Thats on average 835,000 words per year, or yes - in rough text, equivalent to nearly 7 full manuscripts of text for hardcover books - per year!
So yes, the Twitterati get a nice treat from me but you guys here on this blog, after 3.5 milllion lifetime page visits here, I treat you the best. You get on average nearly seven free books of text from me here, which of course, is in my repetitive verbose and arrogant style, you have to put up with that, if you want it for free. You can always go to Amazon and buy my printed hardcover books to get the edited clean final output of the same content haha..
Four years on Twitter. I've collected 11,000 followers there. Wow. Thanks! I have given them 57,000 Tweets and as of today, I am following back nearly half, 5,300 followers (I have to go try to follow back more of them). I do enjoy it there, like I do it here, if you want to follow me on Twitter, I am of course @tomiahonen there.
Look, I gotta ask: how often do you get frustrated by the 140-character limit? ;)

Hi Sami,
me? never. I just 'cheat' by sending two tweets (or eleven..). Same with SMS, 160 characters has never slowed me down from sending a dozen SMS...

It is also difficult, at times, to distinguish monthly users from total user accounts. In other words: This is the best I can find, but I don’t guarantee anything.
