Hello Tomi

Just a note (I don't want to confuse you), you can use the Lumia as an alarm clock. But you must left it switched on. It's the same behavior of Android and iPhone and I think that people will adapt to it.

I think I know how android works pretty well. Nobody said forking would be simple, but it also isn't some herculaneum task, see amazon and kindle. If google pisses off operators & manufacturers enough, they can make the switch, creating second marketplace and replacing closed google apps with something else isn't show stopper either, especially when the binary compatibility with android is guaranteed.

And just the fact they can make threat with this "nuclear" option keeps google in check. With ms they have no such leverage and so ms can credibly dream about completely sidelining operators, manufacturers and everyone else. You gave nice example of this in your last sentence. Contrary to what you suggests not everyone is free to put apps on wp the same way as with android, because the only possible way to sell and distribute apps on wp is through ms - if they don't like you for whatever reason, you are out. On android there is competition.
