Its quite a moment in time, when we think of parties. In North America they have the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, a big party of winter sports (here's to my native Finland skating against Canada in the Ice Hockey final). In Latin America this is the time of the 'real' Carnival, the biggest of which is of course the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. In Europe the mobile industry gathers to party with the biggest industry event of the year as the Mobile World Congress commenced today in Barcelona Spain. All around the world yesterday we cherished our loved ones as it was Valentine's Day.
And here in Asia its the biggest party of the year for the whole continent, the start of the Lunar New Year (or known in the West as the 'Chinese New Year') and we are entering the Year of the Tiger here, as we see in this picture from my home country of Hong Kong. So yes, here at the Communities Dominate blog we have the honour of hosting the Carnival of the Mobilists for the third time. It is Carnival number 211. Welcome.
PARTY ON WAYNE, PARTY ON GARTH DEPARTMENT
(A bit of Canada-related humor there from Wayne's World, Wayne's World, party time, excellent...). Yes, obviously I meant to say Valentine's Day department. Andy Favell at MobiThinking looks at Valentine's Day 2010 and how new mobile services can capitalize on the annual day of love. Not just how to offer messages and ads, but also how to sell through the mobile platform on Valentine's Day.
PLATFORMS FOR YOUR PLATFORM SHOES DEPARTMENT
Here in mobile we always fuss about our platforms, standards and systems. Dennis Bournique at WAP Review writes of Opera Mini and points out the smart little Java ME browser that runs on most phones, has about as many active users as iPhone and iPod Touch combined. Dennis has good illustrative images at the blog and asks developers not to forget the millions of users on Opera Mini.
Then Ajit Jaokar at Open Gardens describes vividly a near-future scenario where Twitter becomes the glue to enable the internet of things. He even shows prelimiary services on Twitter that are steering the web into that direction.
DESIGN TIPS AND PARTY ADVICE
And do we love them apps eh? Yes we do. Barbara Ballard of Little Springs Design has a simple example of poor mobile internet design related to gaming, with a very simple and clear guide on what should happen on a link - and what actually happened.
Then at Peggy-Ann Salz's M-Search Groove, Antti Ohrling, one of the co-founders of Blyk gives a guest column on the role of messaging in mobile advertising, with very userful and perceptive seven rules. He also gives a good overview of the new strategy for Blyk now as it now partners with many mobile operators to deliver targeted mobile advertising.
THE APPLE OF MY GOOGLE DEPARTMENT
It seems almost a 'law' of mobile telecoms, that we cannot have a day go by without something about the Apple iPhone or of Google's interests in mobile. This Carnival is no exception.
Then we have
WASTE NOT THINE REALITY DEPARTMENT
Russell Buckley gives another thought-provoking posting at MobHappy about how AR (Augmented Reality that is) may perpetuate a world of digital trash. Is very well worth thinking about and has a great illustrative video at the blog
REST IN PEACE DEPARTMENT
CEO ie C Enrique Ortiz gives the RIP eulogy for Dot Mobi (ie .mobi) - Enrique feels Dot Mobi did achieve good education and visibility for mobile at a time when it was really needed. And he has hopes for new gains out of the hopefully new .mobi as it enters a new phase.
WE HATE HYSTERIA AND HYPE DEPARTMENT (oh, don't get me started)
Tam Hanna at TamsBlackBerry blog looks at the overblown hysteria that uninformed journalists gave to the recent Blackberry hack.
Here from the Communities Dominate blog we won't offer any blog submissions but simply remind that for all your mobile industry data needs for 2010, bookmark our statistical industry review page. We hope it will serve you well in the upcoming year, even after the partying is over and we all have to return to reality. Next week's Carnival is not yet set, if you are a past Carnival entrant, you can still rush to enter to host it. See www.mobili.st for more.
BEST BLOG OF WEEK
One clarification about Dynamic Cell ID. You wrote:
"Then we have Francisco Kattan at his blog explaining how Google intendes to use Dynamic Cell-ID and its interests in monetizing location."
Dynamic Cell ID is for the operators to block Google from "stealing" location from their networks. It is not for Google to use, as your post could suggest.

Thank you very much for including my post.

RentShout.com was created by Go Smart Solutions, a team that provides self-serve advertising solutions for professionals. When it comes to advertising rentals online, there is no better way than to put those listings where renters are looking. That's why our rental marketing system "shouts" your rental ads across the web to dozens of leading rental directories, as well as search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. This syndication process gives rental listings maximum online visibility, gaining "organic" search results and directory placement for rental ads.

The cause is supposedly not just the iPhone and other smartphones; what I'm hearing from multiple companies is that web access and other data usage is rising even on feature phones.

Following my own monitoring, thousands of people in the world receive the home loans from good banks. Thus, there is good chances to receive a commercial loan in all countries.
