I'm delighted to report that Russell Buckley has written the Foreword to my eBook of 50 case studies in mobile advertising and marketing. Russell is the industry thought-leader and famed blogger at MobHappy, author of a book on messaging, VP of Global Alliances at Admob, and the Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association. He kindly agreed to write the Foreword, and I reproduce it here for our readers.
I’ve been in mobile advertising since the very beginning of the industry, back in 2000. So it’s great to have seen it develop and flourish over the last few years and to be finally poised on the edge of the mainstream.
As the mobile advertising business grew, so did my place in it, initially as the first employee in the world for AdMob (one of mobile advertising’s success stories and Pearl 35 in this book) and then as current Global Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association.
Along the way, I got to know Tomi Ahonen, first as fellow bloggers in one of today’s purely online relationships and later I was lucky enough to speak on the same agenda at one or two conferences around the world.
One of the highlights of Tomi’s speeches are his Pearls that richly litter his fact filled, energetic and thought-provoking performances. Tomi’s Pearls were originally single-slide case studies from those presentations, designed to showcase the best ideas in mobile that he comes across on his ceaseless travels, as best-selling author and consultant about all things mobile.
Tomi’s and my orbits have been getting closer and closer during this period, culminating in the publication of this volume of his Pearls, which focuses entirely on my industry, so I was delighted when he asked me to write this foreword.
Much of my work for both AdMob and the MMA involves educating advertisers and agencies about mobile marketing and case studies are an essential part of that process. To be able to add 50 new ones into the public domain like this is great for the industry and I can see will make my job even easier in the coming months and years.
