Yeah, we've been expecting more of these, after we reported on Pop Kids last year. Now our friend Lars Cosh-Ishii of Wireless Watch Japan reports on the latest venture in the convergence of avatars, TV and mobile. A Japanese show will debut on 14 June called Hoshi-ichi Owarairyoku Test, which means literally the search for the funniest entertainer of the planet. The gamers will join via mobile phones, create an avatar of themselves, and then attempt to entertain. The technology behind the show is from Artificial Life which they call SMS Galaxy. There is a good story with pictures about it at Wireless Watch Japan.
Cool concept, Lars, thanks for forwarding the story and link. This is another excellent example of content for Generation C, and using the interactive abilities of the 7th Mass Media (ie mobile) to bring richer experiences to the 5th mass media (TV). Please keep us posted on whether this turns into a big hit..
