David Cushman of EMAP and author Faster Future Blogspot invited Euan Semple and myself to spend a day with some of EMAP's staff today to discuss the role of blogs and blogging within the context of news and magazine media.
I love listening to Euan talk, especially since I always learn something when he does, and also, I have a soft spot for the gentle lilt of a Sottish accent.
I enjoyed the day immensely, and we got nearly all attendees to write their first blog.
My presentation looked at some of the key underpinning themes that drive social networks, engagement and blogging and how that has enabled various companies and disabled others.
Euan talked about his experiences at the BBC and the practicalities of how to drive engagement and social interaction from a grass roots perspective. Incremental innovation.
We found an attentive and engaged audience and I would like to thank all those that came along for asking questions and being open to discuss the role of blogging in the world of traditional media.
And thank you very much for coming along. Even as one of the more experienced (relatively) bloggers, it's always great to hear the thoughts and opinions of others. Especially when there are challenges and debates to be had...

It's only at times like this that I ever regret starting blogging etc under a pseudonym....
