Oh, the frustrated would-be-astronaut inside of me...
Picked this up in the How to Spend It Guide of this weekend's Financial Times. There is something called an Estes Oracle Video Rocket kit by which you get a small backyard rocket - one meter tall (3 feet) - which has a built-in video camera, which will fly up to 200 meters (600 feet) and then return to the ground using a parachute for re-use. The rocket has a video camera to shoot the whole journey - facing down - so you can shoot for example video of your own home and yard from the sky. One flight lasts about half a minute. Costs 140 UKP (210 Euro, 280 USD) and comes with 3 rocket motors - each is burned up per flight so this gives you only three flights obviously. Then you need to order more rocket engines for further flights. (I'm a rocket man...)
Not really big in the social networking, user-generated content, engagement marketing topics, but just one of those things. So now its citizen rocketry in everyone's backyard. Lets see how quickly Johnny can burn up the neighbor's house with this latest toy :-)
But yeah, I want one :-)
These have been around -- more or less -- for decades. Always wanted one back in the 80s when I practiced inappropriate rocketry. Of course then they were 110 film cameras, and still so expensive no 12 year old could possibly consider one. Stills, but fired off the whole roll in the first 30 seconds of flight, so it was a sort of movie after all.
I think they did a super-8 movie version also, but not sure.

Hi Steven
ha-ha, yes, now that you mention it - I remember thinking the same thought back then, not only was the rocket expensive, but so was the film ha-ha...
how times change
Now, if I was a really cunning guy, like Wiley E Coyotee and bought some ACME rockets, and strapped enough of them to my back, and launched myself from my balcony here in Hong Kong, perhaps I could put myself into orbit.... Communities Dominate Space anybody? :-)
Thanks for writing
Tomi :-)

Do not enough cash to buy a house? You not have to worry, because it's real to get the credit loans to work out all the problems. Thence get a secured loan to buy everything you need.

亘理町によると、荒浜地区の堤防沿いは町の集団移転の対象となる「移転促進区域」に含まれていない地域も多く、建築制限もかかっていない。このため流失を免れた自宅の修復を終えた住民もいる。
