When Tomi and I co-wrote Communities Dominate Brands we spent many days discussing mobile, its impact, economics, its future. Perhaps the most contentious part of our book.
Way back when, we were still getting our heads around blogs and the social ramifications of the internet let alone mobile, in its full shiny glory.
So it raises an eyebrow, when one reads that YouTube are going to target every mobile on the planet.
Well, in fact thats bollocks as there are many of the nearly 3bn phones out there that cannot support video, but nonethless its still interesting, that YouTube see mobile as the next step. Co-founder Steve Chen says,
Our goal is to put YouTube on every screen, we want to create the same amazing experience on mobile devices - and definitely want to be the first video service in whatever video features are enabled on mobile.
And indeed why not.
Let me see... 217m broadband users vs. lets say 1.5bn 3G phone users.
So the internet will co-evolve to mobile.
