Hearst Corporation, which owns Cosmopolitan and Esquire in its magazine publishing empire, is getting ready to launch its own targetted community service, similar to MySpace, based on its handbag.com website. This story was reported in the New Media Age on 25 Jan 2007. Personally, I think if the community is built "cleverly" and it truly engages with its "readership" (in this case being a primarily magazine reader target audience) - it could easily pass a "generic" community for passion and interest. To what degree does it mean we as users prefer a small pool of deeply committed people of similar interestst to a larger pool of people with any interests - remains to be seen. But a welcome move definitely. Lets see how it plays. Soon we'll have digital communities around every affinity and topic?
I found a few Myspace Proxy websites that allows you go to on Myspace even when it is blocked at work and school
