Alan and I wrote about the big shifts happening in traditional retail, and that it was hitting particularly hard those businesses which offered sales of virtual goods and services. Certainly travel is one of those most heavily hit. Today the Financial Times reports that British Airways is closing its last remaining 17 travel stores in Britain. BA also closes one of the three calling centres in the UK. In its announcement about the closings the airline also mentioned that 83% of its passengers already fly on e-Tickets. Also interestingly the calling centre use for travel bookings has peaked as ever more passengers do-it-yourself right on the web. Why would an airline need to sell old-fashioned paper tickets printed at stores.
My brother recommended I might like this website. He was entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this information! Thanks!
