So now its happening. We knew of "Bowlingual" the dog collar that displayed dog emotions already for a few years. But now in Korea - where else - they have launched the two-directional SMS service to "talk" to your dog.
Telecoms Korea News Service reports today in an article entitled "Dogs Talking to Mobile Phone" about their SMS-to-Dogs service. The service, launched by Korea's second largest mobile operator KTF, sends SMS text messages from the dog based on the emotions detected (I am hungry, I am angry, etc) and allows the user to send SMS text messages that are then translated back for the dog to understand.
This is one of those areas that I always thought was bordering on the sci-fi fantasies, but yes, it has been coming and was destined to become another mobile service, similar to the human translation services across language barriers. If anyone has personal experiences for example with the Bowlingual service or its variations, please let us know, we'd love to hear from you.
