Just a quick comment first..
Last weekend saw the Formula One season end for 2008 and its youngest ever champion crowned. This was not to be the great follow-up season for Finnish champion Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. He only won two races this season and his team mate Brazilian Felipe Massa went to challenge for the championship up to the final round in Brazil, his home race which Massa also won. But that was not enough. This year's champion is the phenomenal British racer in only his second season, Lewis Hamilton, at McLaren. Congratulations. The very competitive season saw also Lewis's team mate, Finnish Heikki Kovalainen take his maiden victory with McLaren. The season saw former two-time champion Fernando Alonso return to Renault where he won his championships and take two more victories. And we saw two teams take their first team wins, Robert Kubica of Poland won one for BMW, and rookie driver Sebastian Vettel of Germany for the Toro Rosso team.
This all suggests that the 2009 season will be even more competitive than ever and I can't wait. I do have my occasional F1 thoughts at my F1 blog at www.tomiahonenf1.blogspot.com if you want to read what I thought of about the season at its various points, and will return to that blog also in the off-season from time to time. But I wanted to come here also to the CDB blog to celebrate Lewis's first championship. He is a most deserving, exciting race driver and I wish him many many more wins and championships, and of course I hope the two Finnish drivers will give him a lot of chase in that quest. Congratulations.
