They just keep on inventing weird and cool stuff in South Korea. A friend of ours, Pravin Tamkhane, wrote about the mobile love detector at Forum Oxford today. What is the mobile love detector? Its a service offered by the South Korean mobile operator (carrier) KTF, which analyzes the voice patterns of people as they speak. And then it runs that through some clever analytics, and determines if the person is speaking with affection (and honestly). Ouch. This will change romance in a very big way. "Honey, don't you love me anymore?" But obviously just another way in which connectivity and culture come together in the modern world on mobile (as well as community and commerce, the four C's of the "Flower Diagramme" that is on the cover of our book Communities Dominate Brands with Alan Moore.) And if you think its a silly service, and would not use it yourself, think about Generation C, the Community Generation, for whom the mobile phone is the preferred means of communciation and consumption. Of course Gen-C will use services like this. They already use SMS as the indispensable part of dating and romance. Thanks Pravin for the posting.
